Sleek Kiwi
Serving: 1 large glass
2 Kiwi fruit
1 Mango OR 1 Nectarine
100ml Coconut milk
2 teaspoon Spirulina powder
75ml live natural yoghurt
2 teaspoons honey (optional to taste)
This tropical fruit smoothie recipe is just the thing to help boost your immune system. Few people are aware of the high levels of vitamin C that are found in Kiwi fruit. In fact, weight for weight, the Kiwi fruit contains twice as much vitamin C than Oranges. Kiwi is also a good source of potassium which can help to maintain a healthy heart.
Mangoes are also a good source of vitamin C and Caretenoids both of which help to strengthen the immune system. The smoothness of the coconut milk helps to balance the tartness of the Kiwi fruit.
Spirulina is a blue-green algae that is packed with nutritional gold medals and will also help to strengthen your immune system.
If you can't get hold of mangoes at your local store then try using a nectarine or peach instead.
To make the smoothie recipe start by peeling the Kiwi and Mango and remove the Mango stone. Roughly chop up the kiwi and mango and add to your blender or smoothie maker along with the coconut milk. Blend until the large fruit chunks start to disappear and then add the Spirulina powder, natural yoghurt and honey and blend till smooth. Serve the fruit smoothie over ice and enjoy pronto!
