Overview

In winter time many people suffer from dry skin due to a the cold weather and strong winds. This can be a stress to the body both mentally and physically. Tight, flaky skin and the irritation it causes can affect the mood and confidence of the person it affects.

There are a number of vitamins and oils that help contribute to healthy skin. This juice recipe for dry skin combines both sources of vitamins and essential oils and makes them available in a form that our bodies find easy to assimilate.

Fresh juices are onto a winner from the start when it comes to combatting dry skin as they are excellent sources of pure water which helps to rehydrate the skin. Compare this with coffee and alcohol which have a dehydrating effect on the skin.

The carrots provide an abundance of beta-carotene, vitamin C, folic acid phosphurus, potassium and sodium. Red Peppers and Clementines also contain an abundance of vitamin C. Vitamin C is a powerful anti-oxidant that helps promote healthy skin.

Many oils required for healthy skin cannot be obtained merely from fruits and vegetables alone and so the addition of something else is needed to obtain these oils. This is the reason for including the Udo's choice Ultimate Oil Blend in this recipe. This contains organic flax, sesame and sunflower oils as well as oils from the germ of rice and oats.

It is rich in essential fatty acids (EFA's) including Omega 3, Omega 6 and Omega 9. It also contains Vitamin E to help neutralise free radicals in the body. Regular consumption of this oil blend will give you healthy looking and feeling skin, nails and hair.

Directions

Peel the carrots if not organic, core and deseed the pepper, peel the clementines but leave most of the pith on as it contains phytochemicals that help the body to absorb the vitamin C. Make your juice and then drink most of it apart from a shot or two. Add the oil into the remainder of the juice, give it a quick mix and then drink that.
