Information on juicing Garlic

Garlic is best known as a culinary herb and vampire retardant, the medicinal benefits and claims for garlic have awarded it the name "wonder drug among all herbs".

When using garlic in your juice recipes start of with small amounts of garlic and build up the amount depending on your tastes. Too much garlic juice can cause an uncomfortable stomach and can repeat on the drinker.

The same component that gives garlic it's strong odour is the one that destroys, or inhibits various bacteria and fungi. The component is allicin, and when crushed, combines with the enzyme allinase and results in antibacterial action equivalent to 1% penicillin.

Garlic is known to strengthen the immune system and can help reduce cholesterol and lower blood pressure.

Odourless forms of garlic can be obtained in pill or capsule formats but these do not contain the full medicinal benefits of fresh garlic so always use fresh garlic.
